Golden Retriever breeding kennel
The Golden Retriever is a very sweet and endearing looking dog, but it is also very popular for companionship due to its very sociable temperament. The Golden Retriever originates from Scotland where, in the mid-18th century, it was selected as a retrieving dog for use in water and on land by aristocrats on hunting trips. It is a clever, obedient dog with an innate willingness to work; gentle, friendly and trusting. It may be prone to certain hereditary diseases, so it is advisable to purchase a puppy only from select breeders such as Azienda Agricola Dei Nobi.
The Golden Retriever is a medium-sized dog with a harmonious appearance. It has a balanced, robust and powerful body and a very gentle expression. The coat is flat or wavy, with beautiful fringes. Thick waterproof undercoat. It can be any shade of gold or cream, not red or mahogany. Some white hair is allowed exclusively on the chest. The tail is set in and carried at the level of the back, extending down to the hocks; it is not rolled at the end and has beautiful long fringes. It has a powerful movement, with good drive, parallel and correct when seen from front and back.
Physical features permitted by the standard:
Colour: cream, golden

Height: 51 to 61 cm
Lifespan: 10 to 14 years
The temperament of the Golden retriever is a distinctive trait of the breed and is described in the standard as “gentle, friendly and confident”. Golden retrievers make good family pets, particularly due to their patience and playfulness with children. They are not attached exclusively to one person and are generally just as amiable with strangers as with familiar faces. Their reliable and gentle disposition makes them unsuitable as guard dogs. Any form of unprovoked aggression or hostility towards either people, dogs or other animals, in the ring or within a community, is considered unacceptable in a Golden Retriever and is not in keeping with the personality of the breed. A Golden retriever must not be overly shy or nervous. The typical Golden retriever is calm, docile by nature, with exceptional enthusiasm. Golden retrievers are also known for their intelligence. According to Stanley Coren’s book The Intelligence of Dogs, Golden Retrievers are ranked fourth after the Border Collie, Poodle and German Shepherd as the brightest dogs, classified according to obedience-command-training.
Typical Golden Retrievers are active, fun-loving animals with the exceptionally patient demeanour of a dog bred to sit quietly for hours during a meagre hunt. Adult Golden Retrievers love to work and have a strong ability to concentrate on a specific task. They are willing to work themselves to the point of collapse if necessary, so care must be taken to avoid overloading them. Other characteristics are the proportions that allow them to climb on and jump out of a boat and a boundless love of water, not always found in all dog breeds. Golden Retrievers are extremely trainable, given their intelligence, physical performance and desire to please their owners. They are also very competitive in agility and other performance events. It is not usually necessary to forcibly impose a particular action on the dog, as it will act on our command only with optimistic and docile training.
Golden Retrievers get along well with other dogs, cats and most livestock. They are particularly valued for their high level of sociability towards people, calmness and willingness to learn. They have even been known in some cases to become excellent surrogate mothers to different species.
